Jerrica Lavooy, MSW, CSW

Lead Therapist at Evoke Therapy Intensives

After working as a senior field instructor with Evoke Entrada for almost three years, Jerrica moved to Salt Lake City to pursue her graduate degree. Jerrica has led trips for adventure therapy and outdoor education school programs, as well as worked as an Intensives Team Clinical Assistant while earning her master’s degree in social work. Since graduating, she has served as a lead therapist with a residential program for adolescent girls.

Education & Prior Work Experience

Jerrica holds a Masters in Social Work from the University of Utah. In 2011, she received her Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design, and shortly after decided that she wanted to pursue a career that involved working with people rather than for people. Before pursuing work in wilderness therapy, she held managerial and administrative positions with several small businesses where an organized and facilitated outdoor experiences for non-profits.

Strengths

In 2016, Jerrica became a Field Instructor with Evoke Therapy Programs in St. George. She fell in love with the therapeutic process of growth and self-discovery through vulnerability and discomfort. She is forever grateful for how it has shaped her view of herself, her relationships as well as her aspirations in her future career. Jerrica specializes in utilizing both cognitive and mind-body tools to manage and cope with the effects of trauma. She has strength in working with both individuals and families to explore how the family of origin, shame, attachment and sense of self connect to the underlying therapeutic work.

Interests

Jerrica grew up in Vernon, New Jersey, “the pretty part” of the state, where she developed her love of the outdoors, hiking, riding motorcycles and snowboarding. You can often find her in the mountains with her husband, exploring, climbing, and enjoying whatever mountain sport they can. She loves to travel as much as possible, but when she’s not in the mountains or on the road you can find her at home on the Wasatch front, gardening, crafting something with her hands, or playing fetch with her fur baby Rogue.
