Austin is an experienced therapist with a background working with complex family systems. He has a direct approach while being relatable, compassionate, and maintaining a good sense of humor. Austin believes in the capacity within each individual and family to learn and grow and to discover new ways to find meaning and purpose in challenging situations.

Education & Prior Work Experience

As a licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Austin’s professional journey began with a Master's of Science from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas. Austin has experience working in a variety of settings including community clinics, residential treatment, and intensive outpatient. Most recently, Austin was a Primary Therapist and Clinical Director for a renowned residential treatment center serving adolescent girls and their families. He has advanced training and certification in Brainspotting, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, and Depth-Oriented Sandtray. In addition to his work as an attachment-focused coach, and Intensives facilitator, Austin also provides family coaching and educational consulting based in Dallas Texas.

Strengths

Growing up with Attention-Deficit Disorder, Austin considers himself an "out-of-the-box" thinker. He is able to easily relate with neuro-diverse populations, and is committed to helping clients feel a sense of safety and belonging. Austin values the power of clear and direct communication, which aids him greatly when working with both adolescents and their parents. He is a systems thinker with extensive training in Bowenian and Structural Family Systems, which guides his approach as an Intensives Therapist. His combined training and experience give Austin an air of constant hope, empowerment, and excitement in the therapeutic process.

Interests

Austin is a "Jack-of-all-trades," with many diverse interests. He spends much of his spare time with his wife and dog, Teddy, adventuring on hikes and camping trips. Austin loves to be active with interests that range from volleyball, ultimate frisbee, spikeball, and most recently...pickle-ball! One of Austin’s greatest joys is good food, and he can offer up suggestions for practically any cuisine in his area! Overall, Austin is an extrovert, and seeks to enjoy all different aspects of life with the people he loves.
