J.M. is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist specializing in individual, couples, and family therapy. In addition to his position as CEO of LifeMark Behavioral Health outpatient mental health programs, he maintains a private tele-therapy/coaching practice in San Diego, California. Dr. Evosevich has more than 30 years of experience working in healthcare and mental health, with a specialization in couple's therapy. He has successfully worked with men, women, adolescents, veterans, and the LGBTQ+ community creating individualized care for people with mental health and substance abuse disorders. Dr. Evosevich frequently speaks at professional conferences and is the author of professional articles and books on mental health and substance abuse.

Education & Prior Work Experience

J.M. earned his Ph.D. in psychology at California Coast University, his master’s in counseling psychology at National University and B.S. in Respiratory Therapy at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center. Prior to his move to field of psychology, he worked in healthcare in leadership positions. Over the past 30 years, J.M. has worked in many settings helping people deal with the challenges of everyday life. Dr. Evosevich is a bit of an overachiever with several licenses and certifications, such as CADC (Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor), BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst), Registered Nurse, and Respiratory Care Practitioner.He has been very active in the community, serving on the boards of several non-profit organizations and community foundations. J.M. is the Past President of the California Association of Marriage & Family Therapists, as well as serving on CAMFT’s broad in several capacities.

Strengths

Dr. Evosevich has worked extensively with couples having intimacy, infidelity, trust, and resentment concerns. He has a calm demeanor that makes people feel comfortable and able to lessen defenses to be vulnerable with safety as the primary objective. J.M. believes resiliency is key in our ever-changing world and helping people deal with “real life” as a way to give solutions to create a happier life. He believes that making mistakes is not a failure but a way to learn and grow. “I believe that people have the answers to their problems but often need help to access them to work through the challenges they confront.”

Interests

J.M. loves to travel and experience other cultures and use these experiences to grow and have a better understanding of the human condition. When not traveling, he spends his time between San Diego and Palm Springs with his two Shih Tzus, Paxton, and Pia.
