Lead Therapist at Evoke Therapy Intensives

Having worked for many years as an educator of both children and adults, Amy is passionate about helping individuals learn from personal challenge and improve their relationships through depth and insight-based work. She is a strong proponent of attachment-based therapy, utilizing mindfulness and self-compassion to support client growth, and helping individuals find new perspective to make lasting changes in their lives.

Education & Prior Work Experience

Amy holds a Master of Arts in Education and Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology. She worked for nearly twenty years as a Montessori educator, teacher trainer, and adjunct university instructor. As a life-long learner, Amy continues to seek out experience to deepen her work with individuals and families. Her early experience with clients involved working in a community mental health setting, which allowed her to work with a wide variety of clients and clinical complexity. Amy currently works in private practice where she is focused on helping clients discover new ways of being and understanding their experience, enhancing capacity to thrive, and deepening insight and self-compassion. She has also completed Level 1 of the Hakomi Professional training, a mindfulness and somatic approach to healing, and is in the process of completing advanced training in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Internal Family Systems.

Strengths

As an insight-oriented practitioner, Amy brings a strong capacity for compassionate presence and a grounded perspective to empower clients to enhance the quality of their inner-experience as well as their relationships with others. As a mother to two adult daughters and one adolescent son, and a step-mom to four adolescent boys, Amy’s own life journey continues to teach her greater humility, acceptance, and curiosity about the many paths through life. One of Amy's many strengths is her continued commitment to learning and growth, while seeking balance through mindful awareness and acceptance in the present moment.

Interests

Amy loves to get outside and be active as much as possible. She enjoys hiking, swimming, and walking with her husband and their dog, Jasper. She is an avid knitter and has an ever-growing stack of books that she is perpetually trying to read. She also loves to cook and peruse her many cookbooks, and to travel whenever possible.
