Coady is an expert in working with adolescent females that struggle with depression, anxiety, trauma, disordered eating, substance use, school avoidance and attachment issues. In addition, she has experience in conducting psychological evaluations, which has informed her diagnostically in how to best approach her work with students, and in formulating individualized treatment plans.

Coady has an extensive background working as an experiential therapist and family systems specialist. Her warmth, relatability, compassion, and grounded presence naturally convey a feeling of safety and understanding within the treatment process.

Education & Prior Work Experience

Coady is a licensed psychologist who has been practicing for over 30 years. Dr. Schueler earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch New England Graduate School, and then went on to earn a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology.

Over the course of her career, she has worked in a variety of settings which include nature-based therapy programs, residential treatment centers, psychiatric hospitals, therapeutic boarding schools, and private practice. Coady believes that, by far, nature-based therapy is unparalleled in its efficacy with adolescents. It is the tangibility, immediacy, uniqueness, structural separation, and the peer group that contribute to creating an experience for the adolescent to learn about themselves in powerful ways that is difficult to replicate in other settings.

Strengths

From a very young age, Coady was encouraged to be curious about the world, about others and about herself. Her parents modeled the importance of exploring the meaning of her and others’ beliefs and behaviors. This curiosity, which was instilled from an early age, continues to inform her as a person, as a mother, and as a psychologist. Coady considers her patience and her sense of humor as important. She values humility above all other traits. Coady is ever grateful to everyone and to every experience that has fostered this awareness, especially her son, Ketch.

Interests

Coady loves to ski! When the mountains are not covered in snow, she enjoys mountain biking but wishes that the trails were a bit wider and less steep! Being physically active and outside are “musts” in her life. She has a wide range of friends, two old dogs, and a college-age son whom she deeply loves.
