As a Senior Field Instructor for Evoke Entrada, Nick's role is to support his staff teams and lead client groups. He brings his passion for the outdoors and the leadership skills he has gained from the past two-plus years of working with Evoke Entrada and another wilderness company to lead staff teams and empower clients. Nick creates space for staff to learn and grow as Field Instructors both individually and as a team. He believes living in an outdoor environment promotes interpersonal skills and accountability, which are invaluable for client development. Nick is passionate about the knowledge he has gained in the outdoors and wishes to share that with others.
Nick graduated from The State University of New York at Potsdam with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He majored in environmental studies and minored both in wilderness leadership/adventure education and therapeutic recreation. Nick was a past adolescent client with another wilderness program. He took this experience and incorporated it into his undergraduate degree. While earning his degree, Nick participated in two 20+ day backpacking trips oriented towards backcountry navigation and leadership. He led trips, managed the university’s high ropes course, and supervised the rock wall for SUNY Potsdam. He spent two summers leading backpacking/canoe trips in the Adirondacks in upstate New York. Nick also spent a summer working as an outdoor trip leader for a developmental program for students with ADHD/learning disabilities in North Carolina. Nick has shaped his own understanding of being a wilderness therapy client through his experience and education. He aims to reinstate this knowledge with clients at Evoke.
Nick is an exuberant and playful individual. In his free time, Nick enjoys rock-climbing, skateboarding, snowboarding, traveling, spending time with friends and family, and seeing live music.
