As Field Director for Evoke Entrada, Mike ensures program quality through weekly visits to the field where he spends time interacting with both clients and staff, overseeing the Field Department Team, professional development of the Field Staff, and continuous evaluation of risk management to exceed industry standards. Mike believes in the importance of staff’s professional and personal development. He has the opportunity to spend time weekly coaching staff and providing feedback to aid in this process while helping to create direction and opportunities focused on a culture dedicated to a growth mindset.
Mike graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science in Recreation with an emphasis in Outdoor Recreation. Upon finishing his degree he followed his passions and relocated to the southwest to begin work in wilderness therapy with another company where he became a mentor level staff. Looking to change things up, Mike took a break from wilderness therapy to return to grad school at Bowling Green State University. While at BGSU he received a Masters of Education in Recreation and Leisure Studies with a focus in Outdoor Recreation Program Design and Development. Before returning to Utah and continuing to work in wilderness therapy he spent a year running the Stout Adventures Program with the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Mike believes in the strong community of change that can be fostered in a wilderness setting and the transformation that is possible within one's self when our external environment is simplified.
Mike is drawn to the southwest for both the concentration of world-class rock climbing and his love of the desert. When he is not out climbing, he enjoys collecting vinyl records, meditation, reading books, and playing board games.
