The need for sunshine brought Jeremy to southwest Utah, and a passion for working with teenagers brought him to Evoke. Jeremy has a curiosity for the natural world. He has been working with teens in different capacities since high school; at age 28, he still remembers what life was like before discovering a positive relationship with oneself was possible and how it can make wholesome and sustainable relationships with others more attainable.
Jeremy was raised near the Ocoee River in southern Appalachia and enjoyed several summers on the French Broad River. A first-generation college student, he graduated with a degree in communications and human services from Carson-Newman University in Jefferson City, Tennessee. Before graduating, Jeremy was the co-executive director of Win Our World Urban Ministries in Knoxville. He spent three significant years working with truant and delinquent teens through the Journey Program, an after-school program that also included weekly parent classes. The court system collaborated with the high school to ensure as few students as possible fell through the proverbial cracks in a rural Tennessee town.
When he's not sharing his feelings with teenagers, Jeremy enjoys concerts, longboarding, photography, cooking, and spoon carving. His hammock is well-worn, and he tries to stay current by listening to lyricists and writing poetry. He lives with med school students in beautiful Santa Clara.
