Alex grew up in Federal Way, WA just outside of Seattle. He grew up playing multiple sports and camping several times a year with his family on the Olympic Peninsula. In college, Alex discovered backpacking with his younger brother and the love has continued to grow.
Alex received his Bachelor of Arts in Earth and Space Sciences from the University of Washington in 2012. After graduation, Alex took the opportunity to hike the Pacific Crest Trail, where his passion for the wilderness grew even more. Six months and over 2,500 miles later, he returned to Seattle for about a year and a half before heading back outside to work in conservation on the Appalachian Trail in Massachusetts and Connecticut. Alex joined Evoke Entrada as a Field Instructor in January 2015. During this time, Alex deepened his passions for the backcountry, effective communication, and mentoring. After two years in the field at Entrada, Alex moved to Bend, OR to join the Evoke Cascades team.
As the Assistant Field Director, Alex has an integral role in the development of field instructors, utilizing his passion for the wilderness and mentoring to coach and empower. He also leads the Logistic Department and manages the day-to-day tasks of the Cascades team.
