These routines have both aesthetic and practical reasons: supporting the animals and plants we share our space with, other humans who will use the area after us, and ourselves. Minimal impact camping practices can be similar to the front country chores of cleaning a house.

Field Instructor Training and Development

Field Instructors learn through structured training and continued professional development during their time with the company. The Field Instructor role encompasses so many different areas that there is always something new for staff to strengthen. This focus on what we can do better is not easy yet is one of the great benefits of the job and helps us provide the best possible care for clients!

Expressing Yourself: Creativity in the Field

Absent the items and distractions we can come to depend upon in the front country, we are required to find new ways to do things. The field is an environment in which students practice creativity as not only a way to be resourceful, but also to have fun! I’ll cover some of the ways we find creativity in the back country.
