Education & Prior Work Experience

Katie graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and a minor in Spanish. Through her college years, Katie developed a passion for people in need, a love for the outdoors, and an appreciation for diversity. Katie's love for Spanish and different cultures led her to Costa Rica, where she studied Spanish on a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship.

Katie completed a Master of Social Work from the University of Alabama and a Master of Science in Public Health in the Department of Maternal and Child Health, at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Katie completed her MSW field practicum at the Latin American Youth Center (LAYC) in Washington, DC, where she went on to manage a program for runaway and homeless girls. While obtaining her MSPH, Katie worked as a bilingual graduate research assistant on a study examining oral health during pregnancy. She also worked in Bolivia with an evaluation of a school-based health and nutrition program.

For nearly two years, Katie worked at Family Health International in Durham, North Carolina. There she gained experience in monitoring, evaluation, and research. Looking for a change of pace, Katie joined Entrada, now Evoke at Entrada, as a Field Instructor in November 2010, and began working with the research program in May 2011.

Katie works remotely from Colorado, where she is an avid rock climber. She also enjoys baking, eating Southern food that takes her back to her Alabama roots and watching her UNC Tarheels and Auburn Tigers.
