Devin Frechette

Clinical Assistant at Entrada

Devin assists the primary therapist in working with families, students, and referring professionals to best support the needs of each. Her key responsibilities include assisting with in-the-field sessions, performing weekly parent phone calls, and facilitating scheduling needs. She works with students to determine their unique weekly therapeutic assignments and then collaborates with the Field Instructor team to implement and fulfill these goals.

Originally from Tampa, FL, Devin earned her bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies from New College of Florida, wanting to become an urban planner. After college, however, she led a 36-day backpacking trip for a summer camp and fell in love with the inspirational, healing powers of nature. She went on to pursue her love of the outdoors, building trails for the Conservation Corps and working for the Park Service. She also pursued her passion for helping others by working with homeless high school youth in Florida. Her enthusiasm for the outdoors and helping others finally merged in 2014, when she began working as a Field Instructor with Evoke Entrada. She spent five years in this role, becoming a Mentor Instructor in 2019. Devin then became Evoke’s Assistant Field Director in 2020 before moving into her role current role on the Clinical team.

In the field, Devin excels at creating safe space for students to confront their true selves, explore their motivations and values, learn accountability in their decision-making, and build healthier relationships. She works hard not to shy away from the raw and the real things that inevitably surface in the wilderness setting. She believes allowing others to witness these deeper parts of self--sometimes unintentionally--teaches our students self-compassion, resiliency, and personal freedom. Devin values facilitating the process of self-discovery and healing for students and their families, and she is inspired daily by the strength she sees in those she works with.

In her spare time, Devin enjoys exploring the outdoors any way she can. She loves hiking, backpacking, swimming, climbing, and sleeping under the stars. She is also a big fan of lawn games, card games, sci-fi, and reading in large, comfortable chairs.
