Devin Frechette

Assistant Field Director & Recruiter at Entrada

Devin’s role is to support field staff in gaining the skills and confidence necessary to navigate the often messy, confusing process of self-discovery--for both the students and themselves. After working as a Field Instructor for five years, Devin found that the work demands a high level of self-awareness and a willingness to be uncomfortable more often than not. Devin coaches using this empathic perspective, and she enjoys being able to help staff see themselves and the students non-judgmentally through this process. She finds that her approach creates safe space for others to challenge themselves and grow through discomfort, mistakes, and all kinds of negative self-talk. She believes that staff are better able to serve the students when they are doing the work of self-discovery alongside them, and she endlessly values the role Field Instructors play as healthy role models.

Devin received a bachelor's degree in environmental studies from New College of Florida. Since then, she's chosen any job that would allow her to be outside, from summer camp to trail crew to working for the Park Service. In 2014, she began working as a Field Instructor for Evoke, and she became the Assistant Field Director and Recruiter in 2020. Being a Florida native, she has made the wise choice to take most winters off to travel internationally to warmer climates. If she ever decides to leave Evoke, she plans to continue her education and earn a Master’s degree in counseling.

When Devin isn't working, she's usually reading sci-fi, hanging out with her roommate's toddler, or cooking food with friends.
