Clinical Assistant at Evoke Therapy Intensives
Kirk hopes to create a powerful experience at Evoke Intensives by being a bridge between participants and the rest of the clinical team. With the skills he developed in his role as a Senior Field Instructor at Evoke Entrada, Kirk uses his passion for aiding our participants to help them better understand their own process.
Education & Prior Work Experience
Originally from Buffalo, New York and inspired by family camping trips to the Adirondack Mountains, Kirk knew that he wanted to go to a college close to home. He studied at the State University of New York at Potsdam, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Science & Art Studio, with a minor in Wilderness Education. It was during this time that Kirk worked as a Glacier Guide in Alaska during the summers. His educational and professional background has fostered his ability and skills to facilitate powerful group experiences and lead experiential programming such as backpacking and climbing trips.
After graduation in 2016, Kirk drove across the country to Southern Utah to join the team at Evoke's Wilderness Therapy Program at Entrada. He continued to develop his skills as a facilitator and became a Senior Field Instructor, focusing on leadership and communication. He especially enjoyed helping Evoke’s clients, both teens and young adults, to dig deeper into their therapeutic process. Kirk’s professional development has most recently led to him taking on the role of Clinical Assistant, while also working as a lead instructor for Wilderness Medicine courses across Utah.
Kirk has quite an adventurous spirit. During the summer, he enjoys long-distance backpacking trails. The longest trail that Kirk has completed is the Continental Divide Trail, a distance of approximately 2,800 miles from the Canadian border to the Mexican border, hiked over 130 days. He has a passion for capturing his adventures through photography. Currently, his favorite photographic moments are those while hiking, biking, and skiing in Utah’s backcountry. At home in the Wasatch Front, Kirk can be found tending to his garden and his backyard chickens.
