Jerrica Lavooy

Clinical Assistant at Evoke Therapy Intensives

Since moving to Salt Lake City in 2019, Jerrica has led trips for an adventure therapy company and an outdoor education school program, as well as worked in repairs and rentals for a local ski shop while working on her master's degree. Jerrica was very excited to rejoin the Evoke family in February 2020 as an Intensives Team Clinical Assistant.

Education & Prior Work Experience

Jerrica is an MSW graduate student at the University of Utah College of Social Work. In 2011, she received her Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design, and shortly after decided that she wanted to pursue a career that involved working with people rather than for people. After graduation, she held managerial and administrative positions with several small businesses, organized and facilitated outdoor experiences for a non-profit, and served as an AmeriCorps member building trail on the Appalachian Trail. She left New Jersey in 2015 and traveled the country for eight months in a van with her partner before moving to Utah.

Strengths

In 2016, Jerrica became a Field Instructor with Evoke Therapy Programs in St. George. She fell in love with the therapeutic process of growth and self-discovery through vulnerability and discomfort in the wilderness. She is forever grateful for how it has shaped her view of herself, her relationships as well as her aspirations in her future career. After almost three years in the field as a Senior Field Instructor, Jerrica decided to pursue a graduate degree to continue her work in the treatment field.

Interests

Jerrica grew up in Vernon, New Jersey, and often clarifies that it was “the pretty part” in northern N.J. where she developed her love of the outdoors, hiking, and snowboarding. You can often find her in the mountains with her partner, exploring or climbing, and participating in whatever mountain sport they can. Her favorite winter activity is splitboarding in the backcountry, but in the warmer months, she prefers long adventures on her DR350 motorcycle. She loves to travel as much as possible, whether it be to backpack, climb, desert camp, or explore internationally. When she’s not in the mountains or traveling you can find her at home on the Wasatch front, gardening, crafting something with her hands, or playing fetch with her fur baby Rogue.
