Education & Prior Work Experience

Emilee is a Licensed Substance Use Disorder Counselor and Marriage and Family Therapy Intern. Her journey into the recovery field began as a residential staffer for an adult substance abuse treatment center where she fell in love with the world of recovery and helping families heal. Prior to joining the Evoke team, Emilee worked in a variety of settings as a substance abuse counselor. It was there that she had the opportunity to develop substance abuse programming for a therapeutic boarding school and later a wilderness therapy program. Through this experience, Emilee knew she wanted to further her education in Marriage and Family therapy so that she could treat the whole family rather than just the identified patient.

Strengths

With a deep love of experiential therapy, Emilee works with her clients to tell their stories in a way that makes them stronger. Her approach is respectful and non-blaming to help her clients see that they are the experts in their own lives. Emilee strongly believes in Virginia Satir’s work and her saying:

“Life is not what it's supposed to be. It's what it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.”

Emilee hopes to work with her clients in helping them to cope in more effective ways and to truly thrive in their lives.

Interests

Emilee enjoys all of the outdoor beauty Utah has to offer. She loves camping, hiking, and mountain biking with her husband, daughter, and two dogs.
