Sara Carroll

Program Director at Evoke Therapy Intensives

Sara’s role as the Program Director of Evoke Therapy Intensives is to provide program-wide leadership, supervision, and support program operations. She coordinates hiring and training, manages budgets, implements procedures, and leads outreach efforts. Sara partners with the Intensives team to create an empowered client experience and to foster a strong commitment to Evoke’s mission and philosophy.

Education & Prior Work Experience

Sara received her Bachelor of Science from the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Minnesota. After graduation, she held both administrative and leadership level positions with nonprofits serving youth. Sara first came to Evoke at Entrada in 2006 as a Field Instructor. Sara then held the positions of Assistant Field Director, Recruiter, and Field Director. She left Evoke in 2011 and later pursued a career path in Human Resources. As an HR professional, similar to her time at Evoke, Sara found value in supporting others as they sought to reach their goals. It was also during this time that she completed the prestigious Certified Employee Benefit Specialist program from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and ISCEBS. In 2020, Sara returned to the Evoke family to serve as the Program Director for Intensives.

Strengths

Sara works closely with Evoke's leadership to set the program's vision and ensure that shared beliefs and goals are communicated throughout the Intensives and Pursuits teams. She values each member of the team and strives to provide them with the resources they need to be successful so that they may better serve participants. In her role, Sara works with families and individuals to solidify the logistics, such as accommodations or nutrition, that will augment their healing experience. Sara enjoys her work because nothing about the therapeutic process can be or should be cookie cutter. Whether it be a Finding You Intensive or a Pursuits adventure trip, Sara believes that designing an experience for each unique person is essential to a valuable program.

Interests

Sara grew up in the small town of Yankton, South Dakota. Her family spent summers camping, which spurred a life-long passion for the outdoors. She has co-authored a guidebook for beginning backpackers, I Heart Backpacking: How to Get Started, and has lead backpacking courses for all levels of outdoor enthusiasts. In addition to hiking and backpacking, Sara spends time connecting to the land by skiing (both alpine and skinny skis), mountain biking, rafting, gardening, and fly fishing. When not spending time outdoors, Sara can typically be found at her metalsmithing bench creating jewelry or curling up with a good book. She, her partner, and her elderly chihuahua live in a log home in Utah’s Wasatch back.
