Hailey

Senior Field Guide

Hailey was born and raised in Riverside, CA where she grew up spending breaks from school exploring the California coast with family. It was during those times where she found her connection with the ocean and learned about the wild, changing environments up and down the West Coast. While at college, Hailey experienced some of her first outdoor adventures and knew working outdoors was where she wanted to be forever. After college, Hailey worked multiple outdoor jobs with elementary up to college students at camps, ropes courses, and as an outdoor science education instructor before coming to Evoke.

As a guide, Hailey balances her goofiness with her honesty and patience. Hailey shows up in the field as her authentic self where rapport building comes from week-long meme references or the plethora of movie references in her head. The field is the space Hailey feels the most comfortable and has gained the ability to be vulnerable with others, which she continues to put into practice when she goes back to "the fronts." She draws from her past experiences as a teen of not knowing how to open up to others when in need and in turn bringing an open mind to group/individual conversations. Hailey uses her week in the field as a place to purposefully explore not only the desert but to explore the intentions behind the conversations and the boundaries held.

During Hailey’s free time, you will find her on her stand up paddleboard, hiking, exercising, reading in cafes while drinking too much coffee, and eating a lot of sushi burritos. In the summer months, you’ll find Hailey spending time in Alaska guiding for kayak trips.
