Inclusion & Diversity
Being Innovative Means Being Diverse
Evoke’s Statement of Inclusion
We are a company of inclusion, bringing greater diversity of thought and understanding to our community. Evoke thrives on the human differences created through culture, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation and life experiences. We believe cultural competency is imperative in successfully working together as a team, and with our clients. We will continually strive to integrate diversity through invitation, trainings and persistent personal awareness. With different backgrounds, shared values, and one common mission; Evoke is able to provide the highest level of personalized therapeutic care with a focus on the whole-health of clients and families.
Evoke’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee
Evoke Therapy Programs has been treating diverse clients since our inception. Specializing in the struggles that sometimes come with gender identity, sexual orientation, race and religion. To ensure we’re constantly addressing issues of diversity and inclusion, Evoke maintains the Diversity and Inclusion Committee. This committee is comprised of diverse employees from all levels and department within our organization. The Diversity and Inclusion Committee ensures the active inclusion of all employees and clients, implements current trainings and educates all on current clinical and social issues.
Universal Design for Learning at Evoke
By incorporating Universal Design for Learning (UDL), we more effectively reach the broadest number of clients and address their underlying issues. According to the Center for Excellence in Universal Design, UDL is "the design and composition of an environment so that it can be accessed, understood and used to the greatest extent possible by all people regardless of their differences or abilities."
An example of UDL in product design is a ramped entrance to a building. While it may be designed for someone in a wheelchair, it also works well for someone pushing a stroller, the elderly, or someone on crutches. Learning to align therapeutic communication with an eye towards different types of learning strengths and weaknesses helps us reach all of our students and their families.
A Statement of Practice and Policy
As a therapy program, Evoke understands the importance of emotional safety and acceptance. With this crucial understanding, employees are expected to respect all clients and employees and their rights and beliefs. Evoke is dedicated to the principle of equal employment opportunities and providing all employees with a work environment free of discrimination and harassment. Evoke’s policy states,
“Evoke is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate against applicants regarding their race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, national origin, veteran or disability status. Employees respect all employees’ and participants’ rights. Evoke does not tolerate discrimination or harassment of another employee or participant. Any violation to this policy will lead to disciplinary action up to and including termination.”
